In accordance with 2013 Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.11, a school board, at a public meeting, shall adopt a comprehensive, long-term strategic plan to support and improve teaching and learning that is aligned with creating the world’s best workforce.
As required by statute, Orono Schools monitors equitable access to effective, experienced and properly-licensed teachers. There are no gaps in access to effective, experienced and licensed in Orono Schools for students of color, American Indian, or free/reduced lunch students.
State statute also requires reporting on student access to racially and ethnically diverse teachers with consideration of the ethnic and racial makeup of the student population. In the 2018-19 school year, 89% of the K-12 student population was white and 98% of the licensed teachers were white.
The school board must transmit an electronic summary of this annual report to the commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education each fall. The 2018-19 summary requires a combined report addressing the Annual World’s Best Workforce Summary and the Annual Achievement and Integration Plan Progress Report.
