Math Masters students compete + succeed

Math Masters logoA team of 25 sixth-graders from Orono Middle School competed in a Math Masters mathematics challenge March 4 in Chaska. Overall, there were 38 teams with 184 students from around the metro area participating.

The competition is divided into three categories:  fast facts, individual rounds and team rounds. In Fast Facts, Jake Pfeifer placed in the top 2 percent, earning third place overall in the round. Placing in the top 10 percent in the category were Woody Field and Addie Furst.

In the individual rounds, Addie Furst and Stewart Royal placed in the top 5 percent. Five additional students – Woody Field, Addie Furst, Jake Pfeifer, Stewart Royal and Nick Von Bank – finished in the top 15 percent.

Two of the five OMS teams placed among the top 10 teams. These team members were Justin Barry, Woody Field, Addie Furst, Henry Jackson, Jake Pfeifer, Stewart Royal, Alisha Shah, Adela Sjoholm, Lila Solie and Miller Williams.
