See What the Excitement is All About! Orono Activities Center Now Open!
Description: The Character Council is comprised of one representative from each third, fourth and fifth-grade classroom. Each year, students apply to join the council by completing an application and soliciting a recommendation of their character from someone in the community. Classroom representatives are chosen based on their outstanding qualities by a panel of Intermediate School staff. The council meets twice per month from 8:05 to 8:55 a.m. on Wednesdays. Collectively members set goals each year and work together to promote character throughout the school and community.
Description: Kids Helping the Community is an organization that was started by students. Its mission is centered around identifying ways of being helpful to staff, and taking action in those areas on a consistent and regular basis during school hours. KHC members give up recesses in order to help with whatever tasks the staff has identified. Members also recognize that caring means identifying needs, and offering to help with those needs.
