Call the Orono Intermediate School 24-hour Attendance Line at 952-449-8471 or email mthompson@orono.k12.mn.us to report your student will be absent. This is for students in grades 3-5.
(For reporting absences of students in grades K-2, please find more information here.)
Please provide the following information:
If the absence was not called in, please provide a written note on the day your student returns to school.
Students who arrive late for any reason (except a late bus) must sign in and obtain a tardy slip from the school office before going to class.
For excused absences during the day, such as for doctor or dental appointments, students are expected to bring a written note stating the times they are to be excused. A parent must pick up and sign out children in the school office. Also, if a child is returning to school from an appointment, he or she must sign in at the school office and obtain a pass before returning to class.
Please notify the school at least three days in advance if your child is going to be absent due to a family trip.
For more details about excused/unexcused absences and reporting procedures, refer to the district’s attendance policy found here: School Board Policy 503: Student Attendance
Students may enter the building and proceed to their classrooms when their bus arrives at approximately 8:50 a.m. Students who do not ride a bus should not arrive at school prior to 8:50 a.m. as we do not provide supervision.
All unsupervised students must leave the building by 3:45 p.m.
If children need before or after school supervision, please enroll in Spartan Kids.
