About OHS

Orono High School is a four-year, public high school in the western suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul, with a strong tradition of excellence, rooted in community and relationships. Orono High School programs, students and staff are frequently distinguished for their excellence, performing as well as--if not better--than surrounding public and private institutions. Orono High School offers a rigorous comprehensive curriculum, with academic requirements that provide students with a firm foundation as they move on to college, career or other post-secondary program.

School Goals

We see our students

At OHS, it’s the goal of every faculty member to really know each student and build strong relationships. Our small size makes that possible!

We hear our students

By honoring student voice, we help students gain authentic leadership experience, partner with adults and work toward common building goals.

We support our students

Teachers, counselors and support staff make it a goal to be accessible and provide supports that help students work through challenges and achieve their goals.

We encourage our students

At OHS, students can choose from a wide range of athletics, arts, activities and other enrichment opportunities that make high school memorable. More than 85 percent of OHS students participate in at least one activity or sport. We believe in the power of belonging—through friendship, teamwork and school pride—through all four years of high school.

We believe in our students!

Orono graduates are prepared to set a course, follow their path, and find success in a complex and rapidly changing world.

Meet Dr. Steiner, Principal

This is my 30th year in education and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful students, families and colleagues. I began my career working with students with special needs at the high school level, and I have been in administration for past 16 years. I am passionate about ensuring all students succeed and develop strong relationships with the staff in our building. I am excited to be a part of the Orono community!

In my free time, I enjoy watching sports, especially hockey and golf. I love to read, watch movies and travel when I can. I grew up in Minnetonka and live with my husband, John, who is an engineer.

Meet Mr. Aman, Associate Principal

Mr. Aman joined Orono Schools in 2008 as a social studies instructor and was named Associate Principal in April 2021. I love working at OHS because it is a place driven by passion for education; you can feel it among the staff, students and the community.
