Book Club

Description: Members meet monthly to discuss a common book we have read.

Bowling Team

Description: The bowling team is open to boys and girls in grades 5-12, who will learn the skills and technique of the sport as well as how to score, etiquette and more. No experience necessary; participation includes instruction by bowling alley staff. All equipment is provided.

Cheerleaders

Description: Cheerleaders promote school spirit by cheering from the sideline at multiple games during the school year. The goal is to cheer at a minimum of two home games for basketball, football, hockey and soccer.

Description: This club is an opportunity to discuss, debate and learn about current national and international issues.

Dance Team

Description: Fall Dance Team prepares young women for the upcoming winter season. Participants perform at home high school football and soccer games and conduct a youth clinic for elementary-age students.

Description: Students prepare for and compete in debate tournaments during the fall season (October, November and December).

DECA

Description: DECA provides opportunities for students interested in marketing and entrepreneurship to develop leadership skills, self-confidence and professionalism; participate in leadership conferences, competitive events, community service projects and social activities.

Fee: $55. In addition, individual DECA conferences all have respective fees.

Destination Imagination

Description: Destination Imagination is the largest academic team competition in the world. Students work collaboratively on challenges in interest areas, including technical, scientific, structural, fine arts, improvisational and service learning.

Description: Each school year, the Orono High School Theater Department stages two productions: a musical in the fall and a one-act play in the winter.

Description: Members explore and celebrate German language and culture.

GSA: Gender Sexuality Alliance

Description: The club provides LGBTQ+ education and a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth. The goal is to make Orono High School a better place by giving LGBTQ+ students resources, access to positive peers, bullying prevention and advances in character building.
