Orono High School includes grades 9 through 12. We are arranged by academic departments of Business & Technology, English-Language Arts, Fine Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education & Health, Science, Social Studies, and World Language. Orono offers a rigorous comprehensive curriculum, with departmental requirements that provide students with a firm foundation as they move on to college. Orono requires students to earn 24 credits in four years to graduate.
Orono offers 21 AP courses (including the AP Capstone Diploma Program), 13 honors/enriched/accelerated courses and 7 College in the Schools courses. In 2021, 450 students took 899 AP exams, achieving the overall pass rate of 79 percent. The total number of AP Scholars (all four levels) at the end of 2020 was 172.
OHS also offers four Project Lead the Way courses as part of a pre-engineering exploratory curriculum. A rigorous course of study may also include courses at local colleges and universities through the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO).
