Schoology logoOrono School has added a new tool to its Orono PLUS digital-learning program called Schoology. Schoology is a popular Learning Management System (LMS) used broadly in the State of Minnesota and beyond.

Schoology will be used by teachers to post classroom information including assignments, learning targets, due dates, reminders about field trips and more. Students are provided with a safe and secure platform to receive assignments and post them electronically back to the teacher, work collaboratively with their classmates plus many other benefits. It will help students stay organized and keep all of their course materials in one place.

Almost a “one-stop shop:” Schoology will replace Moodle (our previous online learning platform), Google Classroom and teacher websites including calendars. Teacher contact information will continue to be available on the district website.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be setting up access for parents as well. In the meantime, please sit down with your student when they log in to their Schoology account to see how easy it is to navigate and keep track of each course.

As we more fully develop our practice in Schoology, we will begin to add “Groups,” which means that students will be able to receive information about cocurricular and other school activities within the same application.

For additional information, visit the Schoology K-12 website. Watch for additional updates about our implementation of parent accounts.
