SUMMER REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Registration for returning families opens on February 1, 2019 with priority given until March 1, 2019. Contracts for new families will be accepted after March 1 if space allows. Registration for Summer 2019 closes on April 12, 2019.
OK Kids is FULL for Summer 2019 for PreK, K, 1, 2, 3, & 4
PROGRAM SCHEDULE: OK Kids is open Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
TUITION: Invoices will be sent monthly. Payments can be made online with Visa, MasterCard, Discover or Electronic Check at www.oronocommunityed.com.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES: All Kindergarten through 5th graders will participate in Community Education enrichment classes. They consist of six one-week sessions Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. The OK Kids Staff will make sure students get to their class each day. Pre-Kindergartners are required to take three two-week classes from 9:15 to 11:45 am.
FIELD TRIPS: We go on field trips every Friday. Children have a variety of other activities throughout the day such as going to the school playgrounds, track, Baker Park, the nature area and local parks. There will be signs on the classroom door indicating the whereabouts of your child if he/she is not in their classroom.
SWIMMING: All students will swim at the Orono pool throughout the summer – schedule to be determined. Staff will walk children to and from the pool area. Please be sure to send a suit and towel every day for swimming and other water activities.
MEALS: A light breakfast is available for children between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. A staff member will get the students to their classroom. Breakfast ends at 8 a.m.
Students must bring their own BAG LUNCHES with names clearly marked each day. Milk may be purchased Monday-Thursday for $.50 (students may bring cash or coins). Please use a disposable paper bag and a disposable drink for all field trips. We ask you not to send pop.
Afternoon snacks are provided for all OK Kids. Please do not send other snacks or candy unless you plan to share with the class (must be store-bought).
SUMMER SITE: PreK – 1st grade will be located in the OK Kids building. 2nd – 5th grade will be located at the Orono Middle School.
CHANGE OF PLANS: If your child is not going to attend on any given day please inform the site coordinator. Also please let us know if someone other than the parent is going to pick up your child.
EMERGENCY INFORMATION: It is so important to have the children’s files current. Please inform us of any changes in contact numbers or medical needs. You can update this information at www.oronocommunityed.com. In case of an emergency, 911 and the parents will be called. We will contact the emergency contact person if we cannot reach the parents.
SIGNING IN/OUT CHILDREN: Please make contact with a staff person when bringing your child in and when signing out in addition to signing in/out on the iPad. This is mandatory for safety; there cannot be exceptions. OK Kids will not accept legal responsibility for a child unless a parent or authorized person signs in and out on the iPad.
SUN PROTECTION: Sunscreen needs to be provided by the parents with a 30 SPF rating or more. Lip balm is also recommended. Children need to apply and reapply their own lotion before outside activities. Your child may want his/her own bottled water. Please label these items and keep in their cubby/locker when not using. ACTIVITY TRANSPORTATION: The OK Kids Program cannot provide transportation for students who have afternoon activities outside OK Kids. It is mandatory we maintain the legal student/teacher ratio. It is our hope you understand there may be many children that have an activity to go to and it would be impossible to provide that service for all.
