DI Teams Compete at Regionals

Three Orono Destination Imagination (DI) teams competed at the regional competition on February 24th at Maple Grove High School. The D-Idea team pictured below placed third in the scientific category “Unlikely Attraction,” which advanced them to the state tournament taking place on April 14th. 37 students in grades 8-12 represented the Orono delegation at the 64th annual YIG Model Assembly on January 4th-7th. The Orono Table Tennis team took 1st place at Benilde St. Margaret’s Red Knight Invitational on Saturday, January 6. The team is made up of 32 players in grades 9-12. They are coached by Mike Kasner.

Food drive collects over 1,600 pounds

Orono Schools participated in the ME to WE initiative, WE Scare Hunger Food Drive for the 5th year. From October 30 – November 2, students in grades K – 12 brought in non-perishable food items to school for donation to the Maple Plain Food Shelf.
