School Board, technology on the ballot Election 2019
Orono Schools participated in the ME to WE initiative, WE Scare Hunger Food Drive for the 5th year. From October 30 – November 2, students in grades K – 12 brought in non-perishable food items to school for donation to the Maple Plain Food Shelf. In addition, we partnered with several local businesses during the week. Harvest Moon, the ChiroCenter in Long Lake and Carlson Clinic in Maple Plain all partnered with us to collect donations from their customers. Members of the High School club, Youth in Action, led the drive.
On Friday, November 3rd, several Youth in Action students and Community Education staff members helped pack up the donations to bring to the Maple Plain Food Shelf. After weighing all of the donations, we ended up collecting an astounding 1,591 pounds of food, which exceeded last year’s donation amount by more than 200 pounds!
