Students eligible for this program follow the same procedure as full-pay students. Complete confidentiality is maintained regarding a student’s eligibility status. The system will allow students eligible for free or reduced-price meals with one full meal including one carton of milk per day at no charge. To be considered a full meal a student must select a (minimum) of three out of the five meal components offered (one of those must be a fruit or vegetable).
Students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at Orono High School and Orono Middle School will also be able to receive a full breakfast at no charge.
All a la carte purchases are NOT covered by the School Meals Program; those purchases are charged to a student’s lunch account. Students who make a la carte purchases must have money in their accounts to make these purchases regardless of what their eligibility status is.
