OHS sets commencement ceremony June 6

Some 228 seniors are expected to receive their diplomas at Orono High School’s 68th annual commencement ceremony. It will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in Pesonen Stadium. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the OHS gymnasium. The gymnasium has limited seating.

Two students have been selected to address their classmates. They are Carolyn Fritz and Wyatt Jones. Also speaking will be Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Orcutt and OHS Principal Dr. Amy Steiner.

The OHS Wind Ensemble, directed by Tim Arnold, will perform “Pomp and Circumstance” by Edward Elgar and “Loch Lomond (Traditional Scottish)” arranged by Jonathan Quick. The OHS Choir, directed by Nichole Brenna, will sing “Chorale and Alleluia” by Howard Hanson.

Honored guests, selected by the Class of 2019, are:

  • Jeff Aman, OHS social studies teacher
  • Nathan Porter, OHS math teacher
  • Gregory Pusch, OHS science teacher
  • Jared Shogren, Orono Middle School social studies teacher
  • Sandhya Singh, OHS science teacher
  • Michelle Swenson, OHS math teacher
  • Larry Williams, OHS English teacher

A congratulatory reception, hosted by the Spartan Parent Association, will take place immediately following the ceremony on the memorial plaza.
