Ten OHS artists take home 13 MSHSL awards

Ten Orono High School artists were recognized with 13 awards in the Region 2AA Minnesota State High School League visual arts competition.  It was held in April at Chaska High School.

Svea Torgerson received a Judge’s Choice Award for her drawing, “Insomnia.” She also received superior ratings for two additional drawings.

Judge’s Choice winners were given the opportunity to display their work, discuss their artistic process and celebrate their achievement in a May 11 ceremony at the Perpich Center for Arts Education.

  • Elodie Forsans, digital art
  • Bryn Iverson, crafts (mosaic)
  • Jack Myhre, video art (drawing and video)
  • Grace Pierpont, photograph
  • Olivia Shatzer, sculpture (ceramic)
  • Kali Underdahl, ceramics

Three students earned excellent ratings:

  • Priscilla Cole, sculpture
  • Faith Hanson, ceramics
  • Ozzie Ramsey, drawing

Each piece of art (drawings, prints, paintings, photography, sculptures and ceramics) was viewed and judged by professional local artists and then given a rating.

Jayne Hudgins is the art teacher at Orono High School.
