Six OHS students win Scholastic Art Awards

Six Orono High School students received seven awards in the Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards sponsored by Art Educators of Minnesota. Less than 30 percent of the students who enter artwork in the competition are recognized.

OHS students were the recipients of a Gold Key Awards, the top honor, one Silver Key Award and five honorable mentions. Those students are:

Gold Key Award

  • Svea Torgerson, junior, drawing

Silver Key Award

  • Priscilla Cole, sophomore, drawing

Honorable Mention Awards

  • Priscilla Cole, sophomore, drawing
  • Maddie Eppard, senior, painting
  • Bryn Iverson, senior, ceramics
  • Abbie McGrann, senior, painting
  • Jackson Myhre, junior, animated drawingScholastic Art & Writing Awards logo

The artwork of Gold Key and Silver Key winners was displayed at the University of Minnesota’s Regis Center for Art through February 17. An awards ceremony was held February 22 at the University of Minnesota’s Weisman Art Museum.

As Gold Key Award winners, Cole and Sherwood’s work will also be considered for additional awards at the National Scholastic Art Awards.
