OHS students reach new vocabulary heights

Print Friendly, PDF & Email certificateWord has it…that Orono High School students have great vocabularies! OHS placed second in Minnesota in the 2017-18 Vocabulary Bowl, mastering 37,181 words during the year. Our students finished 176th nationally of the 41,000 schools that participated.

OHS improved upon its 2016-17 performance in which it finished third in Minnesota and 234th nationally.

The Vocabulary Bowl is a yearly competition where students across the U.S. and Canada compete to see which school can master the most words on

As students play, either through the website or app, they rack up achievements and points. Every word they master is added to their school’s overall total. The school that masters the most words between October 1 and April 30 wins the Vocabulary Bowl.

The 2018-19 Vocabulary Bowl begins October 1.
