Seven Orono High School artists were recognized with nine awards in the Region 2AA Minnesota State High School League visual arts competition. It was held in April at Chaska High School.

Priscilla Cole received a Judge’s Choice Award for her drawing, “Denim Shorts.” She also received a superior rating for another drawing and an excellent rating for printmaking.

Judge’s Choice winners were given the opportunity to display their work, discuss their artistic process and celebrate their achievement in a May ceremony at the Perpich Center for Arts Education.

Three additional students earned a superior rating:

  • Charles Cole, printmaking
  • Abbie McGrann, printmaking
  • Ryan Paul, mixed media

Three students earned excellent ratings:

  • Gavin Mueller, sculpture
  • Elise Robin, digital photography
  • Cordelia Sherwood, printmaking

Each piece of art (drawings, prints, paintings, photography, sculptures and ceramics) was viewed and judged by professional local artists and then given a rating.
