Lisa O’Halloran, business education teacher at Orono High School, has been recognized with a Teacher of Excellence Award by BestPrep.

“With more than 600 educators participating annually in BestPrep programs, the Teacher of Excellence Award serves to recognize the top 2 percent of those who go above and beyond in their commitment to educating Minnesota youth,” said Greg Orvik, program manager of The Stock Market Game. “Your participation and support of The Stock Market Game is greatly appreciated.”

The award will be presented during BestPrep’s annual luncheon May 23 at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis. About 600 people are expected to attend the event, which will feature Xcel Energy Chairman and CEO Ben Fowke as the keynote speaker.

BestPrep is a statewide nonprofit organization with a mission of preparing students with business, career and financial literacy skills through hands-on experiences that inspire success in work and life.

The Stock Market Game is one of BestPrep’s six programs, all of which are built on the foundation that students learn best through active participation in experiential activities. This approach helps students learn how to make sound business, career and financial decisions, to succeed in the workforce and to overcome future challenges.
