Food drive scares up more donations in 2016

We Scare Hunger, a districtwide food drive conducted October 31-November 3, collected 1,377 pounds of food donations. That exceeded last year’s total by more than 50 pounds.

Nonperishable food items were collected at each school, as well as at three businesses in Long Lake:  ChiroCenter, Harvest Moon Natural Foods Co-op and Orono Station. Members of the high school club, Youth in Action, went to Harvest Moon and Orono Station November 2 to spread the word about the food drive.

Youth in Action members and Community Education staff members packed up donations November 4 to bring them to the Maple Plain Food Shelf.

Bringing donations to the Maple Plain Food Shelf are, from left, students Madison
Michel (12), Alexandrea Morrison (12), Katie Zaccaro (Community Education teen
and arts program coordinator), Kendall Mauer (9), Darby Sween (9), Serena Laing
(11) and Megan Anderson (12).
