The Orono Alumni Association, in collaboration with Orono High School and Orono School District, is seeking nominations for the 2017 Distinguished Alumni and Promising Alumni awards.
Fellow alumni, friends and community members are encouraged to nominate an Orono High School graduate who has demonstrated excellence in their chosen field or occupation and/or has demonstrated leadership and character, and made lasting contributions in their community.
The Promising Alumni Award was added in 2015 with the goal of honoring an OHS alum who graduated less than 15 years ago; the Distinguished Alumni Award is reserved for those who graduated more than 15 years ago. Both awards follow the same nomination process.
The Orono Alumni Association, launched in 2014, was created by the foundation in order to provide alumni with the opportunity to connect with fellow graduates, their school and community.
“The creation of the Orono Alumni Association and partnership with Orono Schools and Orono Foundation for Education continues to build on dreams that I have to connect our schools with our community,” said Dr. Karen Orcutt, superintendent of schools. “Past honorees for the Distinguished Alumni Award are an amazing group. I look forward to seeing younger alumni added to this prestigious group of OHS graduates,” she added.
